George Redhawk turns photographs and digital art into mesmerizing GIFs. The amazing, but tragic, part of his art is that his inspiration was the loss of his sight. A side effect of his failing vision is a morphing in his field of vision.
“It’s an artistic expression of the confusion I go through with my vision loss,” Redhawk says. “Not enough data getting sent to the brain, and it tries to fill in the blanks with false information, so you can’t trust what your eyes or brain are telling you.”
Sadly, George’s loss of vision is progressive, so he will eventually lose all of his sight. But while he still has some visual acuity, he’s making the most of it:
